Set within the rugged contours, rocky outcrops and arid landscape of Rajasthan, this multigenerational retreat transforms a challenging desert terrain into a thriving oasis where architecture, landscape and nature exist in harmony. Inspired by the site’s natural undulations, the building emerges from the earth through a sculpted green roofscape that subtly mirrors the surrounding topography, allowing a substantial programme to blend seamlessly into the terrain rather than dominate it. Conceived as a second home for multiple generations, the residence carefully balances intimacy and togetherness through a collection of private family zones that open into expansive gardens, courtyards and gathering spaces capable of hosting celebrations of over 300–400 guests through independent circulation and access systems.
At the heart of the design lies WALL’s enduring philosophy of Water, Air, Light and Living. Water is introduced not merely as an aesthetic element but as a climatic moderator, creating moments of reflection, cooling the immediate microclimate and establishing a visual connection between the built form and the landscape. Air is harnessed through the careful positioning of openings, shaded outdoor rooms, double-height volumes and interconnected courtyards that encourage natural ventilation and create comfortable environments throughout the year. Light is treated as a design material in itself, filtering through glazed façades, roof apertures and layered spaces to illuminate interiors with changing patterns of daylight while reducing dependence on artificial lighting. Together, these elements cultivate a healthier and more enriching way of life—one where the boundaries between indoors and outdoors dissolve, where nature becomes an everyday experience, and where architecture supports physical comfort, emotional wellbeing and meaningful human connection.
Every contour, level change and material transition has been meticulously crafted to preserve privacy while opening the home towards its landscape. Rooted in sustainability, environmental sensitivity and an unwavering attention to detail, the project demonstrates how complex functional requirements, multigenerational living and large-scale entertaining can coexist within an architecture that feels timeless, grounded and intrinsically connected to its place. It is a built expression of WALL’s belief that when Water, Air and Light are thoughtfully orchestrated, they ultimately create the foundation for better Living.
